Renee, a teen outsider recovering from a recent tragedy, lives with her depressed mom, Linda, and her mom’s alcoholic boyfriend, Chase. One night, in the desert near her home, Renee discovers a terrifying alien, and the two form a psychic bond that links their fates. After hiding the creature in her basement, Renee’s secret is uncovered by Gil, an awkward classmate with an unrequited crush. The two soon find themselves caring for the alien together, unaware that a secret government agency is tracking them.
